2023 Performances
What a year! Conor Nash was undoubtedly the best Irish player in the AFL in 2023. It wasn't until 2022 when former VFL head coach Sam Mitchell got the promotion to head coach of the AFL side and decided to bring in some of his young guns that Nash got a consistent chance in the AFL. He only played an average of 7 games a season before 2022 with coaches uncertain on where to play a guy who is nearly 2 metres tall. Usually in the AFL a player of that size will be a key defender or a key forward but playing in those positions didn't suit Nash.
In 2022 Nash played 21 games and 23 in 2023 all in the midfield close to all the action and has begun to shine. His engine, ability to attract the ball and tough tackling has made him a beast in the midfield often being tasked with locking down the other teams best player. He was well above the AFL average in number of Disposals, Clearances and Tackles becoming the highest ranking Irish player in the AFL fantasy league. It should come as no surprise that he polled 3rd in the Hawthorn Best & Fairest in 2023 and has become a leader within a young Hawthorn side.

2024 Expectations
Hawthorn is young and improving. Expect Conor Nash to play all games in the midfield and notch up more disposals and tackles than all other Irish players in the AFL.
It's unlikely Hawthorn will play finals but expect them to improve on 2023 and Nash to play a pivotal role in that upward trajectory.
